sexuality + the different types

in this post i will be explaining to you what the different types of sexualities are. when you are educated on sexual orientations, you can be more respectable. so i have a list of definitions below, and im so sorry if i forgot any sexualities, please leave some in the comments if you have one i didn't mention. definitions

Asexual A person who does not experience sexual attraction. Asexual people often still have intimate emotional and intellectual relationships, but they are not looking for a sexual relationship.

Gay Usually used to refer to a man who is attracted to other men. This term is sometimes used to describe anyone who identifies as a person who is interested in people of the same gender (e.g. women who are interested in women).

Genderqueer A person whose gender identity doesn’t fit the categories of “man” or “woman.” Many different, non-traditional gender identities may fall under the umbrella term “genderqueer.”

Intersex A person whose sex characteristics (hormones, penis, vulva, breasts, hair growth, x/y chromosomes) do not match their assigned sex. In the past, these persons were called hermaphrodites, but this term is now considered offensive.

Lesbian A woman who is attracted to other women.

Omnisexual Another term used to describe pansexual people (see below).

Pansexual A person who is attracted to members of any gender. This term recognizes that many people do not fit neatly into a gender category like man/woman, for example, people who are 2 spirited or trans.

Questioning A person who is unsure of and exploring their sexual identity.

Transsexual A person who was assigned a sex a birth that does not correspond to how they define their gender identity. Some transsexual people have surgery or take hormones that change their sex. Others may want to do these things but lack the money or safety to do so.

Androgynosexual Being sexually attracted to both men and women, specifically to those with androgynous appearances.

Androsexual Sexual attraction towards men or those with masculine characteristics.

Autosexual Someone who prefers masturbation over having sex with others, or can also refer to someone who is sexually attracted to them self. 

Bisexual Sexual attraction towards two genders. This is also sometimes used as an umbrella term for anyone attracted to more than one gender. 

Demisexual Someone who does not feel sexual attraction until they have a strong emotional attraction to someone

Gray-A 1) do not normally experience sexual attraction, but can sometimes. 2) Have sexual attraction but a low sex drive 3) Have sexual attraction and drive but no desire to act upon it. 4) Those who have sexual attraction and drive but only under limited and specific circumstances.

Gynosexual Sexual attraction towards women or those with feminine characteristics.

Heterosexual Those who feel sexually attracted to the opposite sex. 

Heteroflexible Those who mostly relate to heterosexuality but have and/or are open to relationships with the same gender. 

Homosexual Those who feel sexually attracted towards the same sex. 

Homoflexible Those who consider themselves homosexual, but have and/or are open to relationships with the opposite sex. 

Objectumsexual Someone who is sexually attracted to inanimate objects. (In this sense, this is not a fetish, for the person sees the object as a partner, not a way to enhance a separate sexual relationship with another person)

Pansexual/Omnisexual Someone who is sexually attracted to all genders and gender identities. 

Polysexual Someone who is attracted to multiple genders/gender identities, but not all.

Queer This is sometimes used as an umbrella term for those who do not identify as heterosexual. It can also refer to someone who does not fit any specific sexuality. 

Skoliosexual Someone who is attracted to genderqueer or non-binary people.
